Learn how to easily make wings for your light painting compositions:
In this video tutorial the light painter Jason D. Page looks back at the different steps required to create beautiful light painting wings.
Materials needed:
For this tutorial you will need:
- A flashlight (diameter between of .975"-1.5".)
- The Universal Connector
- Plexiglass brush in the shape of a pen
- One or more color filters
Color filters will help you tint your chosen photo and model.
How to make the wings:
Step 1: To begin, adjust your camera settings based on where you are.
Step 2: Install light painting tools on the universal connector. We will start shooting by first lighting the decor and the model. You can choose the color filter of your choice and put it directly in the connector. Insert your lamp on the other side.
Step 3: Then comes the realization of the wings. For this you need to manually control the ignition and extinction of your flashlight. To make the top of the wings hold the plexiglass horizontally. Light the lamp, stay in position a few seconds and turn it off. All that remains is to move slightly to the side and reproduce the process. Use your body and the model as a guide to help you in the symmetry of your lines. To add the feathers, this time hold the plexiglass vertically while reproducing the same process.
Step 4: Once you've done this on both sides, all you have to do is admire the result.
